SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF.
PROGRESS OF THE CHILDREN. INSPECTION BY MINISTER. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN COBRESrONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. During a recent visit to Christchurch the Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, visited Sumner in company with Mr. J. McCoombs, M.P., for the purpose of inspecting the School for the Deaf there. He gave a short address, describing a trip over the Southern Alps. The children were able to follow the address by lip-reading, and showed a very high standard of intelligence. localising that the education of the children would bo facilitated by the intro. duction of a moving picture machine with films on selected subjects, the Minister has given instruction* that suitable ap. paratus be supplied. The children wera delighted when the Minister informed them of his intention.
