PICTURE AND JEWELLERY. LOSS TO EARL OF MINTO. LONDON. July 07. What constitutes the biggest (heft of the year from a London mansion is the robbery of noynoMs* portrait of (he Countess of Minto, and also a string of pearls and other jewellery, of a total value of £32.000. from the house of the Earl of Minto in Mavfair.
The fifth Earl of Minto succeeded to tlie title in 1914. He married in 1921 Miss Marion Cook, a daughter of Mr. (J. W. Cook, a \vealilty resident of Montreal. The first Karl of Minto was l!ov-ernor-Oeneral of Bengal, and was created an e-.nl in 1813. He married Miss Anna Maria. Ainyand in 1777. Sir Joshua Reynolds lived from 1723 to 1792.
