A BOXER'S RETURN.
PURDY IN AUCKLAND. The former Auckland boxer Charles Purdy, ex-light-weight and welter-weight champion of Australia, arrived by the Niagara yesterday from Sydney to attend the 21sfc birthday of his bister. He has a billiard room in George Street, Sydney, in association with " Nick " Wintor, the holder of tho world's record for the hop, step and jump, namely, 50ft. 11 3-loin. Purdy was to bo matched at Leichardt, Sydney, on August 3, but decided to abandon the engagement in order to visit his sister. Ho has had several fights sinco he has been in Austialia, tho last being with " Norky " Fowler, who v.on on points. JTo stales ho is willing to in Auckland if the Boxing Association sens fit and expresses a desire to meet Jack Paul. His fighting weight is about 10 stone.
