SPORTS AT NATIONAL PARK.
RUAPEHU SKI CLUB. annual visit next month. The annual excursion of llio Ruapehu Ski Club to Tongariro National Tark will begin on August 28 and will end on September 8. "Between 50 and 60 members from various districts in the North Island will be present. A party of about 20 members from Auckland under the president of the club, Mr. A. D. Mead, will attend the excursion, while FTiere will be a large party from Wanganui.
The club's annual winter sports will be held at the park, probably on Scoria Flat, an elevated area on Mount Ruapehu, and will occupy two days. The competitions will includo climbing, running downhill, turning, jumping and croft-country racing. There will also bo the inter-provincial relay championship and the New Zealand Amateur Skiing championship. In the skiing championship members of other clubs can compete.
