WEDDING CAKE "CREATIONS."

The bride of to-day has very definite ideas of her own when she comes to discuss her wedding cake. Tho 1930 models, built by the famous cake makers along traditional and conventional lines, aio very beautiful and, of course, there are many brides w-ho choose their cake from among these. The girl with " ideas," however, prefers not lo choose, She likes to adapt and design. Her cake must be " different." It must bo expressive of her own individuality; of her sport, her hobby, or even of her profession. Therefore, it follows convention only up to a point. After which originality steps in. Tho tennis girl, for instance, dispenses with the conventional vase, flowers, and other " ornaments and surmounts her cake, instead, with a realistic tennis court complete —in multicoloured sugars—with footpaths and flower beds, net and players, rackets and balls. Another cako displays a golf course, a third a miniature garden, whose sweetmeat trees, grass and flowers are very life-like.

Obviously the airman's wedding demands a sugary aeroplane, and this swings airily through a bower of white flowers. Perhaps, however, the most amusing novelty in up-to-the-minute cakes is one now being created by the chef of a famous London firm. It follows the design faithfully, and in every detail, of a wellknown house in Knightsbridge. Tall is tho house and distinguished, its decoration achieved bv paint of daffodil yellow, its window boxes boldly flaunting trailv painted wooden flowers. This " creation," when finished, will furnish a direct answer to tho modern demand for something new in wedding cakes!
