AVONDALE WOMEN'S CLUB.
The monthly meeting of the Avondalo Women's Club took place on Wednesday, the president, Mrs. E. M. Newton, prosiding over a largo attendance. It was reported that the Lyceum Club has invited tho members of tho club as nn affiliated body to attend a farewell to be given on Monday to members of the pan-Pacific Conference, who leave shortly for Honolulu. A resume of a meeting of tho National Council of Women was given by Miss Newton'. A very enjoyable musical programme followed. Miss James sang "Break of Day" a rid "Good Morning, Brother Sunshine," and Miss Fyfo, of Mount Albert, sang "Sing, Joyous Bird" and "From Ihe Land of Sky Bluo Water." Mrs. Bollard played the accompaniments. Mrs. Arthur Griffiths gave on address, her subject being a "Travelogue to tho Homes of Notable Women." The speaker concluded her talk by referring to Miss Amy Johnson, who by her great oxnloit in the air, had all the world at her feet. Mrs. Griffiths' address was very novel nnd extremely interesting, and she was enthusiastically applauded. She also gave two humorous sketches, "The Good Old Days" and "Tho Auction of Life." With Mrs. Griffiths was Mrs. Susanna Jennings, who exhibited some of hor work. Tea, dispensed by Mrs. Egerton Gill, brought an interesting afternoon to a conclusion.
