MOUNT ALBERT BOROUGH.

WORKS FOR CURRENT YEAR. A COMPREHENSIVE SCHEME. A comprehensive scheme of works for the current year was adopted by the Mount Albert Borough Council last evening. The sum of £4OOO was set aside for the Sandringham Road extension and .CS9SO for sower reticulation in the A ward. In addition £3OOO was allocated for the Meola drain, £3625 for the No. 8 sewer and £7658 for the main drain. The sum of £I3OO was voted for conveniences to bo erected at Edendalo and tlio Mount Albert terminus.

In tho B ward, tho following streets aro to bo reconstructed: —Lloyd Avenue West, £3000; Bcnfield Avenue, £2600; and Livingstone Street, £I7OO. In the C ward Gordou Road and Crowcll Street aro to bo completed and work is to bo commenced on Taylor's Road and Paice Avenue. In the samo ward £IOOO is to bo spent on sewer reticulation. In tho D ward, tho reconstruction of Commercial Road will bo carried out. "The extension of the tram route to Avondalo would be of great benefit to our ratepayers," said Mr. W. G. Russell, who moved that tho council should pass a resolution urging ratepayers to support tlio Transport Board's proposals at tho forthcoming poll, lie mentioned that one effect would be a better servico to Moruingside and Kingsland sections at least. Building permits issued during tho three weeks ended duly .17 totalled .53845, including £2025 for the new post oHico at the Mount Albert terminus. Advice was received that the assessment of the Mount Albert, Borough' 3 contribution to the cost of the proposed Whau Bridgo had been fixed at 1.5 per cent, in lieu of 2.5 per cent, as previously proposed.
