Two Eltham hotels were broken into in a daring manner last night and sums of money were taken from sleepers' room?. The thief was sighted in one hotel, but made good his escape.

A porter at the Central Hotel rose before six o'clock to start work. (in switching on a light at the top of the stairs lie saw a strange man standing in the passage. The man walked lo a. door at the end of the passage and ran down the slairs outside. The porter awoke the licensee. Mr. .\. 0. Oast;v, who found his clothes lying on the floor and over £4 missing from lho pockets.

A boarder at the Coronation Hotel, Mr. I. IT. Murray, also reported a loss of money during the night. Mr. Murray did not. discover Lis loss until this morning, when he found that £5 had been taken trom his clothes, which weie in a wardrobe close to a window that opens on to the firo escape.
