A WRITER OF SONGS.

WIFE CLAIMS MAINTENANCE DEFENDANT'S ALLEGATION. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday.

"He is a writer of songs 'and he is selling flowers, although he is fit for more than that," said the maintenance officer in the Magistrate's Court to-day of a man who alleged in Court recently that he had been wrongfully committed to a mental hospital 011 the information of his wife, who was now in Sydney. "The question of his ability in regard to writing songs depends upon the class of songs that are written," said counsel for defendant. His client was a flower seller, but flowers were scarce, although not as scarce as songs. The maintenance officer said the wife denied that she was the cause of her husband's being committed to the mental hospital. The case was adjourned.
