CRIME IN AUSTRALIA.
ASSAULTS AND ROBBERY.
GIRL BRUTALLY ATTACKED. (Received July CI, 31.15 p.m.) SYDNEY. July 21. Australia, is experiencing a wave of desperate crime, mainly in the eastern States. bandits, footpads and burglars arc securing much loot.
There have been several armed robberies lately without a single arrest. The police have their hands very full. To-day a girl cashier in the employ of the Coogec Motor Omnibus Company was brutally assaulted and a sum of £IOO was stolen from her by two thieves who escaped. An elaborate attempt to raid a bank at Cronulla at the week-end nearly succeeded. However, the burglars were disturbed and left £2OOO behind.
