A long list of legacies ts servants is contained in the will of the late iscount Gladstone, who died recently. Lord Gladstone, who left £64,138. htv queathed to his wife all his veal estate, moveable chattels (except money and securities and documents of title), including all his letters, manuscripts, papers, copyrights, and royalties to he disposed of as she thinks fit, and the residue of his property. Among the documents are papers of the. period when ho was the first Gover-nor-General of South Africa, between 1910 and 1914. , Before he died Lord Gladstone signed tl „ agreement with the British Museum authorities under winch the priceless collection of papers belonging to his great father are to como into the possession ot tho museum. Mr. Henry Neville Gladstone has just done the nation a unrepavablo service in handing over all l,j s father's papers in his possession to the custody of the British Museum. A moro important collection of documents thus to pass into public possession can hardly be imagined.
