OBITUARY.

MR. JOSEPH FORD. Tho death of Mr. Joseph Ford, of tho firm of Lord, Richardson and Company, Limited, has occurred at tho age of 78. Mr. Ford was born at Lambeth, London. After serving his apprenticeship in the drapery trade he left London for South Africa and later went to Australia, where he floated a silver mine company at Broken Hill. He married in 1887 Miss Christina Seiflert, of Goulburn, New South Wales, and settled 1n Melbourne. After visiting tho Old Country with his wife and family he went to Sydney, residing there for six years. In 1901 Mr. Ford came to New Zealand. After living in Wellington for three years ho camo to Auckland, carrying on business in quilt manufacturing and later started the manufacture of bedding. Since then Mr. Ford had resided in Auckland until his death. Ho is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. E. A. Smart and Miss A. Ford, and one son, Mr. F. L. Ford, all of Auckland.

MRS. M: A. PROHL. Tho death of Mrs. Mary Ann Prohl, aged 81 years, occurred at her residence, 48, Collingwood Street, Ponsonby, on Sunday Mrs. Prohl was the widow of the late Mr. Carl Rudolph Prohl, master mariner, and a daughter of Eho late Captain John Booth, who for many years traded between Groat Britain and China in the tea clippers. Mrs. Prohl was born in Aberdeen and sailed from London in the sailing ship Forfarshire iu March, 1875, arriving in Auckland in July of That year. Sho tool; over tho old Park Hotel in Wellesley Street, now occupied by the Girls' Friendly Society, and was for some years actively engaged in its management. Mrs. "Prohl has lived in Auckland ever since her arrival and in the Ponsonby district for about 50 years. She is survived by one daughter and threo sons. Thero are 11 grandchildren ancl 4 great-grandchildren.

MRS. ELLEN CASEY. The death of Mrs. Ellon Casey, of Auckland, occurred! at Mount Maunganui, Tauianga, yesterday. Mrs. Casey was horn in London in 1861, and came to New Zealand with her family 54 years ago, settling in Napier, but for the last 20 years she had resided in Auckland. She went to Mount Maunganui recently on a visit 'to one of her daughters, Mis. J. E. Kelly. Mrs Casey is survived by five sons, Messrs Eugeno, Thomas, Andrew, Richard at.o Loo Casey, all of whom reside in Auckland, and two daughters. Mrs Keli\. of Mount Maunganui, and Mrs. L. Chcriton of Lake To Anau. Mr. E. Casey is divisional superintendent of railways foi the North Island. Requiem Mass is to bo celebrated in St. Joseph's' Church, Grey Lynn, this morning, tint funeral leaving immediately afterwards for Waikaraka Cemetery. MISS ELIZA EVANS. The death occurred ■at her residence. Great South Road, l'apakura, on Sunday, of Miss Eliza Evans, aned 69 years. Miss Evans was born in Staffordshire nnd came to New Zealand with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Evans, in 1882 On their arrival, Mr and Mrs. Evans bbught a farm at Papnknra, and Miss Evans had lived in the original house on that propertv since. She had been a regular worshipper at the Methodist Church since its opening in Papakura.

Mrs Mill was born in Auckland in 1845. her parents coming to Now Zealand a short time before from Nova Scotia on ilio ship Duchess of Argyle. They first, lived in tho Bay of Islands, and when tho trouble with tho Maoris occurred tliey removed to Auckland. Afterwards the family returned to the North. After her marriage. Mrs, Hill lived at Taumarere and Ilukerenui. being for 39 years in the latter place. Since her husband's di-atli she has lived with a soji at Kamo. There arc eight, children. 50 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
