For somo time past there lifts been considerable dissatisfaction among Iho commercial community at the refusal of tlio Stoics Control Board to disclose to unsuccessful tenderers the prices of successful tenderers It. is stated that such information is readily available in almost all instances from local governing authorities. Firms overseas frequently express themselves at a loss to understand why information is not available in the caso of New Zealand Government tenders. The matter has been taken up by tlie Auckland Chamber of Commerce, which so far has been successful in inducing the Stores Control Board to disclose to unsuccessful tenderers the names of the successful tenderers, but not the prices Before pursuing tho matter further it was decided to ascertain tho practice of Governments abroad, and at tho last meeting of tho council » letter from the Sydney Chamber of Commerce was read inti. muting tliat pmctically every Government department in New South Wales now discloses to unsuccessful tenderers tho names of tho successful tenderers and their prices.
