INQUIRY into subsidies. air MAIL services. (Received July 20, 5.15 p.m.) CANBERRA. July 20. The authorities have been investigating Government contracts and subsidies, with i view to finding possible ways of reducing expenditure. They have discovered a subsidy on the cast to west »ir mail service of £39.000 per annum. This cannot be cut, because the company has a contract which will not expire until 1934. The Government finds also that the aerial service affects the transcontinental »ilway to a very serious extent.
