GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

REUNION OF OLD BOYS. PRIDE OF ACHIEVEMENT. There was a fair attendance at the annual meeting and reunion of the Auckland Grammar School Old Boys' Association in Scots Hall od Saturday evening. The newly-elected president, Mr. E. R. Davis, was in the chair, and the guests included the headmaster of the school, Mr. 11. J. D. Mahon, Messrs. J. L. Farrell, S. R. Martindale and H. Wilkinson, of the British Rugby team, members of (he Auckland Rugby team, and representatives of kindred associations. The annual report and balance-sheet, details of which were previously published, were adopted. Tho retiring president, Mr. A. St. C. Brown, commented on the satisfactory financial position. "To succeed in life it is necessary to have some model to look to, and look where you will, you will find no better model than tho lato Mr. J. W. Tibhs," said Mr. Davis, in proposing the toast of the headmastei and staff of tho school. "'lho Grammar School has produced many fino men, including the late headmaster, Mr. James Drummond, and tho present headmaster, Mr. Mahon." "There is no office in Church or State which I would rather fill than the headmastership of the Auckland Grammar School," said Mr. Mahon, who responded. ''The pride which I feel in the school is largely on account of the activities of the old boys. The standing of a school is really determined by the achievements of its old boys, and we have every reason to bo proud of the school, tile old boys and their achievements." The toast of the British football team was proposed by Mr. J. Stanton, who mentioned that five members of the victorious Auckland team were old boys of tho school. Mr. Farrell replied on behalf of the visitors, making special mention of Mr. M. Corner, whom he described as the finest halfback the team had met during its tour Mr. Brown proposed the toast of kindred associations, replies being made by old boys of King's College, Sacred Heart College and Technical College. During tho evening a brief"musical programme was supplied by an orchestra under tho conductorship of Mr. Trevor Sparling, and by other arlis'.s.
