In ;i League football match at the exhibition ground to-dav Queensland defeated the New Zealandeis bv 14 points (o 11. The ground was hard and tlio weather fine. The attendance was the largest this season. The New Zealand team was:—Backs, Dufty, Brisbane, Dodds, Watene, Amos, Gregory, Abbott; forwards, Calder, Stephenson, Trautvetter, Griffiths, Clarke and Eckoff. Up to the closing stages the match was anything but brilliant, but the excitement of the last few minutes made up for jri" o ' l of the dullness. The New Zeahmdcrs did not greatly impress the spectators by their showing in the first half. Combination was lacking, and they appeared to be suffering a handicap through the inability of some of the players to take the field. However, in the lattei' stages they rallied, and always were a source of danger to the home side. The Queenslandcrs, who included seven of the men who loured England last season, were also unable lo get going, and the visitors held them well up to halftime, when the score was 9 points lo 6 in favour of New Zealand. Dufty kicked three goals and Eckoff scored a try. In the second half plav was more entertainiug, with the New Zealanders always harassing the home side, and frequently making dangerous bursts. They were unable, however, to contend with the final brilliantly-sustained effort by Queensland, and after the scores had been level at 11 points each for several minutes, the home players scored a try which gave, them the game. The best of the forwards were Eckoff, Calder and Clarke, and of the backs Gregory, Dudds and Watene. Dufty was safe and sure at fullback. In the second half Dufty kicked a goal.
