REST HOME FOR AGED.
MEMORIAL TO SIR J. WARD. SUGGESTION BY MR. FLETCHER. [BY TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL REPORTER. ] WELLINGTON, Friday. The suggestion that the Government should consider the immediate erection of a rest home in the Hauraki Gulf as a memorial to Sir .Joseph Ward was made by Mr. J. S- Fletcher (Independent—(srev Lynn) in giving notification in the House to-day that lie would ask the Prime Minister, the Hon. G. W\ Forties, a question to that effect. Mr. Fletcher recalled that it was dur ing Sir Joseph's last visit to Auckland that the announcement was made fliat the Government intended to introduce legislation to provide rest homes for the aged and needy.
