LORRY DRIVER BURNED.

UNCONSCIOUS ON ROAD. A TIMELY DISCOVERY. [BY TELEGRAPH.—-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Friday. A curious mishap occurred on the Oharia Valley Road early (his morning, when a lorry-driver, Mr. G. Kitchener, suffered painful burns, and but for the assistance of Mr. Ahredsen would probably have been most seriously injured. The driver, a young man, set out for town at an early hour to-day with Mr. G. 11. McMeeking's milk lorry, and apparently engine trouble developed. He pulled Iho machine to the side of tho road, and was observed to be working 011 it for some little time. Mr. Ahredsen. who lives close by, then noticed smoke coming from the lorry. He ran across, and found'tho driver lying unconscious, with his clothes on fire. Mr. Ahredsen pulled him to safety, and Dr. 11. F. Aitken, of Johnsonville, was called. The injured man was removed to a house, suffering from burns and severe shock. It is thought probable that he was overcome by fumes. When tho petrol took fire the lorry blazed fiercely, and was very badly damaged.
