MONKEY ON ROOF TOPS.

ESCAPE FROM HOSPITAL. A solitary monkey in the pathological department of the London Hospital, sn'it,ten with the Whitsuntide feeling. doctors, nurses, and students of Ue hospital an exciting Saturday. Left alone in (ho laboratory, with the prospect of a dull week-end before him, the monkey decided to liven things up by an excursion. He removed a broken pane of glass trom the skvlight and escaped on to the root. The alarm was raised, and in short time hundreds of people gathered in the street to watch his antics. Nobody in tho crowd wanted to lay hands on tho monkey for fear that he might have been inoculated with some deadly disease germs and that a bite might necessitate spending Whitsuntide in tho hospital. The police finally set all fears at rest by getting in touch with the superintendent of the laboratory, who assured them 'hat the monkey was perfectly harmless. At 10 o'clock the little animal _ had established himself in the trees in a cemetery at the rear of fcfce synagogue, *nd ,t|tere spent tfre night.
