RACE FOR DAMAGES.
PEDESTRIAN FORESTALLED. After being knocked down by a motorcar and narrowly escaping with his life while walking in the country, M. Perrot, a Paris pianist, was astonished to receive a summons for permitting himself to get in the way of the car. When M. Perrot had recovered from his injuries ha was about to take steps to get damages from the car owner. But he was forestalled by the police of Crecy-en-Brie, who ordered him to appear before the local court for having infringed a road law. M. Perrot was able to avoid the necessity of having to pay for being knocked down, by proving that th» driver of the car had not mounded lois hooter.
