A further advance in offers fnr Government hoiuls, which were still firmly retained hy holders, was the most notable feature of a rjiiirt- day on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Buyers raised their limits hy* 5s t.o £99 10s for 1930. 1939 and 1911 4' l'"r cent. War Bonds and for 197)8 and 1939 4£ per cent. Inscribed Stock, without securing any response from 'holders. Offers for 193 ft and 1932 per cent. Inscribed Stock were also 2s 6d firmer, without sellers. Banks again moved unfavourably. Commercials of Australia supplied the only business, with two transactions Id easier at 21s Id. English, Scottish and Australians were inquired for Is 6d lower at £5 16s. A further fall of 5s was registered in quotations for New South Wales, which were available at £35 15s. Offers for New Zealands receded 9d to 565, sellers being prepared to accept 3d less at 575. Support for Unions weakened Is from £ll 3s 6d. Weaker conditions existed in insurance. Offers for New Zealands receded a shade and South British were released 3d cheaper at 595, at which price further supplies were available. Support was withdrawn from Palgetys, which were still offered at £lO 12s 6d in loan and agency, which otherwise was unchanged. A fall of 2d was recorded by New Zealand Guarantee Corporations, which changed hands at 7s lOd. In coals Renowns made a current-price sale at 15s 3,1. New Zealand Breweries were further depressed, offers closing Is easior at 48s 3d. Sellers were ready to take 3d less at 49s 6d.

Industrials remained quiet. A buyer was prepared to give 33s 3d for Australian Glass, which were quoted at 355. Bycrofts firmed, offers being advanced Is to 345.

In mining support improved for Moanataiaris. A late sale on Thursday of Waihis was recorded at the unchanged pi ice of 14s. More could be had at the same level yesterday. Rights in tho new issue ot* Mount Lvells gained ground with sale Id dearer at 2s sd. Buyers were unchanged for the shares, for which 6d more was asked at 255.
