NEW FIELD NEAR LONDON. UNIQUE FLYING EXHIBITION. LONDON. July F. Prince Georges opened tlie new 11 and ley Page aerodrome at Radlett, 15 miles from London. The first machine to take off was tho famous Gugnunc, which stunted at. speeds that would have crashed any other aeroplane except a helicopter. The exhibits included a weird twinengined night lumber known as the I"lying Grasshopper." the fuselage of which is under the (op plane instead, as formerly was the universal practice, above the lower plane, giving an appearance in flight as if upside down. The " Grasshopper" made its first pubj lie appearance in flight before the Prince, demonstrating a far greater manoeuvring ability than any previous heavy aircraft. With 1000 horse-power engines, and a reputed top speed of 160 miles an hour; it is the <lonrlliest aircraft yet evolved. Also shown was the completed fuselage of a 42-seater Imperial Airways " Argosy." Mr. F. Handley Page said Imperial Airways had ordered eight of iliese machines, proposing to use them in the Indian service, also to Capetown and as far as Cairo, and eventually to Australia. They will he four cngined 2000 horse-power biplanes.
