The South Auckland amateur championship tournament conducted by tho Hamilton Boxing Association was held in Hamilton this evening, before a fair attendance. The general standard of the boxing was good, several of the bouts being firstclass. A contest o) outstanding merit was that between 1! Purdie, of Auckland, (lie Now Zealand bantam-weight champion, and B Mutton, of Frankton. 'l'. Brown and T. Chandler provided another exciting bout in the heavy-weight class. The Brnnton Cup, for the most scientific display. was awarded to Purdie. Ihe referee was Mr It. Neale, of Auckland The new champions arc—Fly-weight, E. Adams (Te Awamutu); bantam-weight. B. Roth lads gave a good exhibition- Bruno scored freely in the first two rounds, but was outclassed in tho last. Rantam-weights.—B. Bowler, S^t., Hamilton, beat J. Layne, Auckland, Bst. 21b It was Bowler's fight throughout. Feather-weights.—R. Purdie, Bst. 131b., Auckland, heajt B. Mutton, Sst. 131b., Frankton. Final: Craig beat O'Neill. Craig gained the verdict bv a technical knock-out in tho second round. Middle-weights.—ll. Parkinson, list 41b.. Te Awamutu. beat U. P>. Thompson. lOst. 91b., Auckland. Thompson had Parkinson down at the end of tho first round, but Parkinson recovered well in the second and third. 11. Broadhead, lOst. 1011).. Auckland, beat. E. W. Hunt, list. 31b., Hamilton. Broadhead was awarded the decision at the end of the second round. Tn the final Broadhead defaulted to Parkinson. Light-heavy-weights. —T. Chandler, list 1 . 131b.. Okoroire, beat J. There was little between the pair for tho first two rounds, but in the lively exchanges in the last Parkinson made a good recovery and gained tho decision. Heavy-weights.—T.
