Vincent last evening: Unsettled arid showery weather is indicated, particularly in western districts, but with intervening fino intervals. A westerly depression is approaching from the Tasman Sea. The Government meteorologist reported iast evening as follows: —An anti-cyclono still extends betweon northern New Zealand and Australia. A series of low pressure waves is, however, moving along its southern edge, ono having already crossed tho South Island to-day. Indications aro for westerly winds, light to moderate north of New Plymouth and Napier, elsewhere moderate to strong unci of gale force at times about Fcveaux Strait. Seas rough in Foveaux Strait and on the west coast south of Cape Egmont, elsewhere smooth to moderate. Winds between west and south-west in tho eastern Tasman Sea, strong in tho southern portion with rough seas, but light to moderate in tho northern portion with smooth to moderate S2as. Tho weather will he cloudy and showery in districts with a woslerly aspect, more especially from Taranaki southwards, and fair to fine in eastern districts. Mild temperatures. RAINFALL RECORD.
