SLIP ON MAIN TRUNK.
MISHAP NEAR TE KUITI. NORTH EXPRESSES DELAYED. Both expresses from Wellington were delayed near To Kuiti on Saturday morning by a slip which occurred on the railway line about three miles south of the town, at about. 2.30 a.m. Slight damage was done to the engine and two carriages of the first express, which is due at Te Kuiti at 2.40 a.m., and it was two and a-quartcr hours late in reaching Auckland. The limited express was also delayed for an hour and a-quarter. Among the debris brought down by the slip was a large boulder, which was grazed by the engine of the first express. Part of the undergear of the engine was slightly damaged and damage to the battery boxes on two leading carriages resulted in the electric light sen-ice being interrupted. The steps and undergear of both carriages suffered slightly, and the postal van steps yjcre also caught by the boulder. No one was injured. \Vnen the line was sufficiently cleared the express went on .to Te Kuiti, where the engine and two cars were taken off and others substituted. The line was all clear for traffic at 6.40 a.m. The first express reached Auckland at nine o'clock and the limited express at-11.20 a.m.
