The Hinds Hurdle Race, at the Ashburton Meeting to-day provided a fairly easy win for Lnncer, who is likely to do well in forthcoming important engagements. Ho was never far away from the pacemaker. Heisler, but his chance did not look hopeful when ho crashed through a hurdle half a' mile from home and lost a good deal of ground,. He gradually made this up, how-; ever, and, drawing away from Heisler over the last fence, went on to beat him by two lengths. Oriflamb was a similar distance away in third place and then came Troilus and Pangolin. Zeuxis ran off and the other two starters fell. The Morelon Hack Handicap resulted in a <;lose finish between Glggleswick and Fortalice. , Tho former took charge inside the distance and was later challenged by Fortalico, the pair engaging in a stirring struggle to the post. Giggleswick hung on' k to gain tho verdict by a head. Garvary, who was last away, was three lengths back and was followed by Sweet Refrain and Kentish Lady. ' Royal Mint was a surprise favourite for the MayAcld Handicap and he finished out of a place. Tho winner, Punchestown. Was making his first appearanco in open company, and over the distance. In another exciting struggle Punchestown saueezed home by a short head. Quarterdeck finished on from the back to get third money, two lengths away, with Royal Mint, Haze and Toawai next. The Dromore Steeplechase was responsible for a sterling performance on the part of Radiate, who made a great run over the last half mile. Tunamoo had a useful advantage from him two fences, from home and Radiate made a faulty jump whioh increased his leeway. Ho gradually crept on the loader and was up with him at the last fence. Tunamoo, who was always going easily, drow away again on landing and looked a certain winner. However, his rider oosed up on his mount, and Ellis, on Radiate, caught him unawares. In a punishinh finish Radiate got up in the last few strides to snatoh a luoky victory by a length, Tho. third horse, was ten lengths back, and Gala Day, the only other contestant to finish, was tailed off. Another exciting tussle wns staged in the Maronan Handicap, for which thero was a field of four Rascal and First Raid fought out the issue from the top, of the straight. The lattor had his hoitd in front a few yards from the post, but as a result of a final vigorous effort. Rascal got in- the deciding strido to. win by a head. Subdivision and Revision wero outclassed.
