POLICE COURT NEWS.
THEFT OF SUIT OF CLOTHES. ONE MONTH'S IMPRISONMENT. A plea of not guilty was entered by John Hart, nged 37, barman, in the Police Court on Saturday, to a charge of stealing a suit of clothes valued at £4 10s. belonging to the llobson Loan Company. Acting-Detective Slater said accused had been found wearing the suit half an hour after it had been stolen. " I don't believe you," said Mr. F. K Hunt, S.M., when accused said he boucht the suit. The magistrate imposed sentence of one month's imprisonment. A charge of stealing a gramophone valued at £9 from Horace Robinson on Juno 20 was admitted by John Quigley, labourer, aged 23. Chief-Detective Hammond said accused had been in custody for a week. The magistrate, in admitting accused to probation for 12 months, warned him that the next_ time he appeared ho would be sent to prison for six months.
