STORMY VOYAGE.
WESTMORELAND ARRIVES.
EXPERIENCE IN CYCLONE.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Friday.
Very rough weather was experienced by the Westmoreland, which arrived at New Plymouth this morning after a voyage of 37 days from Glasgow. About a week ago the ship ran into a cyclone. Mountainous seas were running and wavos ovor 40ft. high set tho boat decks awash. The vessel was travelling light having only 1000 tons of ballast on ■board. Fortunately no damage was done by the seas, although the ship was hove to and the crew had to take great care when on deck
After the cyclone had passed very rough weather continued and much of tho time it was blowing a whole gale. Very heavy seas wore still experienced and the vessel was delayed considerably.
