BUSINESS PREMISES VISITED.

Burglars have been operating in the Taranaki district during tho week, and following a burglary at Hawera on Tuesday night and another at Stratford on night, two business premises in New Plymouth were broken into last night. These were the warehouse premises of Newton King, Limited, in Currie Street, and the offico of tho New Plymouth Sash and Door Company, Limited, in Gill Streot.

Entrance was effected to Newton King's premises by prising open a window on the Currie Street frontage. There was a good deal of disorder in some parts of the ware, house, which had been searched extensively, but very, little of value was taken. A drawer in tho office had been forced and somo packets of cigarettes and stamps worth £2 taken. The intruders raided a number of biscuit tins from which quantities of biscuits were taken. Tho Sash and Door Company's premises were entered in a similar manner, a window being forced. This morning the offico was a sceno of great disorder. Tho drawers in all tables and desks had been ransacked, and the contents emptied on the floor, which was littered with papers. Tho manager's office was entered and his roll-top desk forcod open. A drawer from a table in tho board room had been emptied of its contonts. The intruders helped themselves to refreshments from a cupboard in which the staff kept them, and an electric kettle was utilised to boil cocoa. At Stratford on Wednesday night two buildings were entered, while two others resisted efforts to break into them. The thieves socured very little. STOCK OJ CIGARETTES TAKEN. DISCOVERY AT WANGANUI. [by TELEGRAPH.—I'RESS association.] WANGANUI, Friday. A burglary occurred in Wanganui last' evening, the Crown Depot premises being entered and £ll worth of cigarettes stolen. Entrance was made through a back window on which the burglar pasted paper. Inside he was confronted with a considerable amount of crockery ware, and this he pushed over and damaged.
