BOXING AT SYDNEY.
PURDY MEETS FOWLER. NEW ZEALANDER DEFEATED. (Received. Juno 28, 12.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 27. At. the Leichhardt Stadium this evening, in a boxing match of 15 rounds, Norkey Fowler, lOst. 71b., won on points against Charley Purely, lOst. 51b., of New Zealand. Fowler had Purdy on the defensive most of the time. Purdy stopped many chin and body punches, but when he did rally he displayed finer ringcraft than his opponent. The fight was very strenuous.
