A message from Oakland, California, says plans are under way to erect a monument there in commemoration of Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith's exploits in the Southern Cross. PEAISE FOE AIBMEN. RACY NEWSPAPER ARTICLE. A TOUGH JOB FINISHED. (.Received June 27. G. 25 p.m.) NEW YORK. Juno 2G. The New York World, ill an article on the flight of the Southern Cross, makes the following comments in baseball phraseology:— " These fliers made the homo run by a clean smash out of the park anil if there is one thing that this country does uot need to have explained to it, it 16 a home run. We have the chance hero to bo glad and heaven knows we need it. " And we have a chance to extend a welcome to the men who have finished a pretty tough job und they must need it*, too."
