CROSSING COLLISION.

TRAIN AND MOTOR-LORRY.

ACCIDENT AT TE KUITI. PASSENGER FALLS INTO CREEK. ■A collision between a motor-lorry and a south-bound train from Frankton Junction occurred at the railway crossing near the public school at To Ivuiti at 6.30 last evening. The driver of tho lorry, Frederick William Martin, aged 17 years, was thrown clear and escaped almost unhurt, but the vehiclo was wrecked .beyond repair. The train struck the lorry at the crossing as it was approaching the station. The driver of the lorry was thrown for a distance of about 25ft, but was able to walk away from the line. He was removed to the Te Kuiti Hospital, where ho was found to be suffering from bruises and slight shock. The father of the youth, who was driving another lorry behind that which jvas wrecked, witnessed the accident. No damage was done to tho engine of ■ the train, which later continued its journey. . A passenger on the train, named Tuohy, in stepping off a carriage platform after tho collision, failed to notico that the carriage had come to rest over a small bridge anrl fell into the bed of a creek. He received injuries to his back and was removed io the hospital. His condition is not serious.
