' • ' ■ 'V ; ; DEATH OF THE OWNER. ; ' ; Mrs. Brandon Thomas, the owner ;.of , the famous play, " Charley's Auntt" and " the widow of the author, Mr. Brandon Thomas, died in a London nursing home following an operation a few weeks ago.,, Mrs. Thomas leaves three children, Mr. • Jevan Brandon Thomas,i who recently was playing in the farce at CliiswSck; Miss Amy Brandon Thomas, Iho' actress; „ and Miss Sylvia Brandon Thomas. " Charley's Aunt " is the most successful ever produced. It ha£; run practically continuously for 38 years in nearly every country in the world. Permission was obtained early this year for the translation of the farce into Esper- N anto for its performance at the Esperanto Congress at Oxford. * ■ When the play was adapted as A sildiit " film five years ago, Mrs. Brandon Thomas received £20,000 for the picture rights. Just,before her death she was negotiating for another £20,000 for the " talking " rights of the play. >
