BEQUEST FOR BONUS.
AUSTRALIAN GOLDFIELDS. MR. SCULLIN'S , ATTITUDE. (Heceived June 26, ILS p.m.) CA3TBEBBA, June 26. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, to-day received a deputation representing the goldfiekis communities of the Commonwealth, who asked the Government to provide a bonus of 20s for every ounce of gold produced in Australia within the next 10 years. The deputation argued that a bonus would stimulates the gold mining industry and also help to solve the unemployment problem. Mr. Scullin replied that ho was not impressed with the arguments. A bonus might mean the expenditure of a huge sum with no assurance of a wonderful revival in the mining industry such as had been Dictured. However, he promised to submit the representations of the deputation to the Cabinet.
