SOUTHERN CROSS CREW.
BOUND FOR NEW YORK. TRIP OF 12 TO 14 HOURS. GOOD PROGRESS REPORTED.
The Southern Gross is again in the air, Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith and his three companions having left Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, for New York yesterday at an hour equivalent to about 8.30 p.m. New Zealand time. Ail going well the airmen should reach New York this forenoon, allowing 7 from 12 to 14 hours for the journey. At the outset good conditions were encountered, but then came a message from the airmen intimating that they were again flying blind. Subsequently bearings were obtained and thereupon the wireless operator became busily occupied in answering lie many congratulatory messages received by the airmen.
