THE WAIPA MEETING.

HURDLE RACE CANDIDATES. SEVERAL IMPROVERS ENCAGED. More than a few of the candidates for the Ngarcto Hurdles at Te Awamutu to-morrow have shown form over hurdles whea the class has net been strong, and unong them are some likely improvers. These include Wako King. Mountain Guide. Caiiaris and Daylight, and it is vary probable that they will be the horses to provide the interest at the finish. Consistency has beea a feature of the latest form of Mountain Guide, who has actched four successive seconds, and he is ia a class at the country meeting where he must have bright prospects ci winning, Oa the era of the Auckland Winter Meeting, wica he had done a splendid preparation for the Great Northern Hurdles, Mountain Guide had to be eased an on account of soreness, but he has made good progress in the meantime and is going ta strip well to-morrow. Caiaris created a very favourable impression when he made his debut as a hurdler recently, when he ran Luminary to a head ia the Panmure Hurdles. At his next appearance he was going particularly well whea he fell fi'je furlongs from heme ia the C'rakei Hurdles, and he must therefore be given a good chance ia the company he has to meet on .this occasion, for he should be a better horse for the experience he has gamed. Daylight won over hurdles a few mcaths ago at Paeroa, and. although he was not good enough for. open company at EUerslie, he should be an entirely different proposition ia this class. Wako King, who went well for two miles ia the Great Northern Hurdles, should also be suited by the class, and he, too, must be treated with some respect. On form these horses should prove superior to the others engaged, backers will probably be tempted to give moat support to Carlarts, Mountain Guide and Daylight.

KAURI PARK'S PROGRAMME. NOT TO RUN AT TE AWAMUTU. As Eauri Park has not dose a great deal of work since pulling up tender after running third in the H earners Hurdles cn the second cay of the Auckland Winter Meeting. J. Lattihesa ha« decided against starting the old fellow at To Awnmutu tomorrow. Kauri Park has two engagements at Te Awanratu, the Ngaroto Hurdles and tie Te Awumutu Steeplechase, and his defection from the steeplechase will leave only six horses in that race, so that if thera is another withdrawal it will be only a onedividend field.
