MINING NEWS.
MO ANATAIARI COMPANY. LOW-GRADE ORE TESTS. Tho annual meeting of sharelioltlors of the Caledonia, Kuranui, Moanataiari Consolidated Goldmining Company, Limited, was hold yesterday. Tho chairman of directors, Mr. P. F. Watson, presided. "Tho position of the company as far as a mining proposition goes is far better than it has over been," said Mr. Watson, in moving the adoption of the half-yearly reports of the directors and tho mine manager. Tho reef system on which they were now working was something better than they had ever expected. Proposals for the testing of tho possibilities of a block of country held by tho company for low-grade ore development wero outlined, in letters from tho Thames Low Grade Ore Development Committee, and from tho Hon. W. A. Veitch, then Minister of Mines. Tho Minister stated that a grant of £2OO was available to tho committee to enable it to carry out these tests when it received the permission of tho company and advice of the terms on which tho land would bo available for subsequent development, Mr. Watson said permission to make the tests had boon given. It was decided to recommend tho directors to grant the committee tho uso of tho ground on tributo in accordance with the Mining Act. Tho retiring director, Mr. W. M. Gimson, was re-elected. A vote of thanks was accorded to the directors.
