SWIMMING.
THE AUCKLAND CENTRE. RESIGNATION OF CHAIRMAN. The Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Club lliet last evening. Mr. R. M. Sheffield presiding. Tho secretary's action in notifying the New Zealand Council that the centre liud cancelled a proposed carnival at winch Australian swimmers would appear on llieir way to the Empire Games, was confirmed. Jt was decided to present to tho two Aifcklund Empire Games representatives, Miss G. Pidgeon and G Bridson, tokens of the centre's appreciation. The resignation of *tho chairman. Mr. J. Emvright, was considered. Mr. Enwright resigned from tho centro at tho last meeting as a protest against (lie centre dissociating ilsolf from statements made by tho Waiteniata Swimming Clnb against tho baths supervisor, Mr. M, Champion. In a lengths letter Mr Enwright gave reasons for his decision. After discussion it wns decided Hint tho letter bo received and that a deputation consisting of Messrs. It. M. Sheffield, 11. Moore, R. Foy and R, linrdy. wait on Mr, Enwright asking him to reconsider his deeisiou and pointing out discrepancies in his letter.
