DEATH OF MOTORIST.
COLLAPSE AFTER ACCIDENT. SHOCK CAUSED TO HEART. [et telegraph.—own correspondent.] ROTORUA. Thursday. The adjourned inquest concerning the death of Sydney Robert Palmer, which occurred on June 15 at Rotorua, was held before the coroner, Mr. S. L. Paterson, to-day Mr Palmer left Rotorua by car at about 5.30 p.m. on June 14, on his way home to Oruanui, near Taupo. When he was about seven miles from Rotorua his car left the main road nt a curve, and went down tho side into some loose pumice Mr Palmer was alone in the car On the same night he arrived in Rotorua at about 11 p.m. Ho felt ill, but next morning was driven back, and the car was pulled on to the road. Mr Spedding, who was passing, noticed that Mr. Palmer looked ill, and drove him back to Rotorua. He collapsed on tho way, and Mr. Spedding thought be was dead, and drove to the hospital, j Dr. Brian G. Thompson, in evidence, stated that on June 15 Mr. Palmer arrived as above stated. Efforts were made to resuscitate him, without avail. The next day he held a post-mortem examination, and formed the opinion that the cause of death was dilation of the heart, induced by a shock in connection with the accident The coroner gave a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
