POLICE COURT NEWS.
ALLEGATION OF FRAUD. CHARGE AGAINST FARMER. A charge of obtaining £8 19s 6d and goods valued at £1 0s 6d from a Symonds Street shop by means of a valueless chequo for £lO drawn on the Bank of Australasia in Auckland was preferred i« the Police Court yesterday against Walter Philip Hailes, aged 27, farmer, who was arrested by Detective Stevenson. Thero was a further charge of stealing a cheque form valued at 2d. Accused was remanded until Monday on bail of £SO.
Charges of being found dcunk in'Karangahape Road and of breaking .Jiis prohibition order were admitted by Edward McSweeney, aged 37, labourer. Senior-Ser-geant Powell stated that accused had been prohibited last December and this was tho fifth breach of the order. He was fined £5, in default 14 days' imprisonment.
