The temporary traffic bridge now in use across the Oma Stream will be replaced later by a concrete bridge on a new read alignment. Stretches of the newiy-ccnsiructed road between Te Wharan and Tangowahin® have been open to traffic for some whils and an additional deviation round a hill* side will be metalled and opened to traffia within about two months. By thai rims an overhead bridge to span the railway will be completed. At the Awakino Point end of tha world a mile and a-half of permanent line has been laid and is ready for ballasting. It is estimated that the rails will be laid from Tangowahine to the Awakino Stream before the end of the year, anr? bv that time also construction within the Darga* ville Borough will have- been commenced. The completion of much of the work oa the section has necessitated tha paying off of 75 men, but about 200 men remain is employ ment.
