SHIPPING BUSINESS.

NEW ZEALAND COMPANY. BRANCHES RE-ESTABLISHED. A branch of the New Zealand Shipping Company has been re-established in Auckland, and Mr. A. H. Sinel has been appointed manager. During the past nine years the Union Steam Ship Company has been the agents for tlio New Zealand Shipping Company, but after next Monday the shipping company's business will be carried on under Mr. Sinel's management. Similar arrangements have been made in Dunedin, where Mr. F. Tyson has been appointed branch manager. Mr. J. H. C. Bond, Dominion superintendent of this New Zealand Shipping Company, is in Auckland arranging for the change. j Except for change in management the shipping company's Auckland business will be carried on as in the past, and the two companies will continue to occupy Maritime Buildings, which was formerly the &ew Zealand Shipping Company's wool store, and was extensively altered to accommodate the local staffs of the two companies. Before 1921 tho Union Company's offices were for many years at tho corner of Customs Street and Queen Street. Mr. Sinel joined the New Zealand Shipping Company's local clerical stas as a boy in 1897, and in 1917 ho was appointed assistant manager. In 1920 Mr. C. V. Houghton retired, after being manager in Auckland for many years, and the transfer of the agency to tho Union Company took place a fow months later. Under tho new arrangement the New Zealand Shipping Company will have its own branches in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and. Dunedin, but the Union Company will continue to act as agent at all other ports in New Zealand.
