HOUSE BURKED DOWN.

NOTHING SAVED FROM FLAMES.

[BY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday.

A five-roomed house in Carrington Road, beyond the borough boundary, was burned to the ground on Saturday evening. It was part. of the estate of the late Mr. H. W. Saxton, and was leased by Mr. Carrington, who occupied it. Mr. and Mrs. Carrington were at the theatre when the fire broke out, and the flames had a very strong hold when- the brigade arrived. Nothing could be done to save the house, as the lin. water pipe connected with the borough system could not give sufficient water to combat the

flames. The house was insured for £SOO in the South British Office, and the furniture for £175 in the United Office.
