FLAG BRIDGE EVENING. A very successful flag bridge evening was held at the club on Thursday. There were 19 tables occupied, the winners being Mrs. A. H. Tompkins, Mrs. A. ,E. Sandford and Mrs. H. The nursing staff- of the Waikato Hospital held its annual dance on Thursday in tho- Nurses' Home. The large sitting room, which was used for the dancing, was artistically decorated with autumntinted leaves. The hostess, Miss Keddie, received her guests in a frock of apricot geoi'gette, with a lace bridge coat. She was assisted by Sister Tucker, wlio wore leaf-green georgette and lace.

The committee of the Sonning Old Girls' Association gave a morning tea on Friday in honour of Miss Ruby Vickery, whose marriage takes place this week. It was held at (lie home of Mrs. H. H. Clark, O'Neill Street, where tho living room was tastefully decorated with late chrysanthemums. A small presentation was made to Miss Vickery, carrying with it the best wishes of the association, of which she is a member. The guest of honour wore a frock of cherrv-red pleated crepe de chine, with a fur coat and hat to tone. Those present were:—Mrs. H. Clark, Mrs. F. Vickery, Miss B. Vickery, Miss D. Clark, Miss D. Yule, Miss F. Hall, Miss N. Valder, Mrs. G- Bindon, Miss F. Jollv, Miss I. Vercoe and Miss C. C'hitty. Dance lor Sports Queen. A very enjoyable dance was given by Mrs. R. Zellman at her home, Seddon Road, in aid of the sports' queen, Miss Connie Buckland. The rooms were decorated in the queen's colours of royal blue with large gold " S's" displayed on the walls. The music was provided by Mrs. Barker, Mr. Smith and Mr. C. Barker. A competition was won by Miss E. Wilson and Mr. W. Paterson. Mrs.' Zellman wore a frock of pink georgette, with an embossed chenille bridge coat. Miss Mavis Zellman . wore frilled pink tulle; Miss C. Buckland, sports' queen,. pistache-green georgette; and Miss J. Gilfillan, business queen, was in flowered georgette. Others present were:—Mrs. G. Buckland. Mrs. Hardcastle, Mrs. Barker, Mrs. Smith.
