WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
SLANAWAHE. Slembers of the Siatawabe Women's Institute met last Thursday ana a very pleasant rime wus spent. A demonstration of tie making of a pouffe cushion as given by Sirs. Seaboume, and a competition for the best article made from a Sour bag brought in many novel entries. The winner iras Sliss Tmmiclis, e with a toilet set. Tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Bosrden, S&s McElwee and Sliss TunnlclifF. BIREDALE. Use monthly meeting c-f tie Birkdale Women's Institute was held last week when Sirs. Gilpin presided over a good attendance oi members. A rots of sympathy was extended to Mrs. Thomas on the recent loss of her mother, .Mrs. Person. Sirs. Bishop gave a short talk and urged members to support, the world peace movement. Sirs. Bentley gava a snort story and Sirs. Allen demonstrated tba making oi rag dp lis and string soles. Tba hostesses were Slesdames Collins, Cuipan, Coward and F. Clark. RAGLAN. 'lbs Raglan Women's Instituis met ob Friday and in the absence of tba president , Sirs. V. E. Fegler presided over the meeting. Community singing witb Sirs. E. Galran as'pianist- was enjoyed and a sealing war demonstration was given by Sirs J. Dent, of Te Uku. A sclo by Sirs, Johns, who was 'accompanied by Sirs. J. SL Thompson, followed. Good business was done at a bring-and-buy stall presided over by Mrs. C. Reach. Afternoon tea was served by Sirs. C. Gil-, incur, Sin. Smeeth and Sirs. Johns. WOODE3LL. A meeting c-f the Woodhill Woman's Institute was held last week in tie local hall. Thera was a'very large attendants and the president. Sirs. Stanley PbjTKps. gave an interesting demonstration of crocheted berets which was much enjoyed. The hostesses for the afternoon were Sirs. George McDonald and Sirs. A.Cochrane.
