WEDDINGS.

LAN GSTAFF—ASHTON. A wedding of interest was celebrated od Saturday evening at the residence of Sir. and Mrs. E. Didsbury Ashton, of Gartside, Victoria Avenue, Remuera, when their only daughter, Miss Bita Ellen Ashicn, was married to Sir. Cari S. Langstaif, of Wellington, only son of Mr. E. Langstafi, of Bristol, England. The ceremony, at which were present only relatives and a few intimate friends, was celebrated in the drawing room, which had been arranged with bowls and stands of hydrangeas and winter foliage, and ever the heads of the bridal pair was suspended a wedding bell, also of hydrangeas. The Rev. J. A. Thompson officiated and Mr. H. Luscombe piayed the "Wedding March." The bride, who was given away bv her father, wore a graceful gown of cyclamen pink shot patterned taffeta faille and much paler pink silk net over a foundation cf in the same delicate shade. The sleeveless bodice, ait square at the neck in front, was V-shaped at the back and was made en long, slender lines, ending in a basque at the low waistline. The full Sared skirt was of silk net over palest pink georgette relieved with frills arranged in a scalloped design at widely-spaced horizontal intervals, caught in the front with a rose pink and silver newer and finished at the back with long sash ends of georgette. The veil of rose pink tulle was arranged on the head in the fcrm cf a cap and fell in long soft folds over the frock. A sheath c-f hydrangeas was carried. In attendance were her two nieces, Miss Ailsa Howard and Miss Peggy Eobertson, who wore frocks fashioned alike cf lettuce green Ehot taffeta faille with long, slimritring bodices and very bouffant skirts failing to ankle length at the back. They carried bouquets ci violets. Following the f-ersmony a reception, which was very largely attended, was held at the Lyceum Club by Mr. and Mrs. Ashton. The lounge, in which the guests were received, had been most, attractively arranged with tail vases and bowls of hydrangeas, laculia and other winter Sowers, and brightly-burning fires offered a cheerful welcome in contrast to the dismal atmosphere outside. In the supper room the long central table had been charmingly arranged with pink and dark red roses, with maidenhair fern and low bowls cf laculia. Sirs. Ashton, with Mr. Ashton, received wearing a frock cf cornflower blue georgette beaded in silver, the cape effect at the back likewise beaded. She carried a bouquet cf r.iii- and crimson roses. From them the guests passed to ths bride and bridegroom to offer their good wishes. During the evening Mr. A. Mrllwa-*a gave appreciated items and an orchestra provided excellent music.
