VALLEY WATER SUPPLY. FURTHER LOAN EXPENDITURE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT,] THAMES, Saturday. ( At a meeting of the Thames County Council this week the Thames Valley Water Supply Committee reported that as the result of the county clerk's visit to Wellington, the Local Government Loans Board had sanctioned the raising of a further £IBOO of the original loan to enable the council to settle all the liabilities incurred in connection ..with the Thames Valley water supply and the proposed extension to Mr. Denby's property. It was reported that out of 87 domestic connections and 80 field connections provided for, only 50 domestic and 64 field connections had been taken advantage of. The committee then considered the rates proposed to be struck to meet the interest and sinking fund of the loan and the renewal, maintenance and supervision of the works. It was decided to recommend that the proposed rates be reduced as follows:—A class land, to Is lid an acre; B class, to Is sd; C class to lid. It was also agreed to recommend the following special .charges:—Hotels, £lO a year; schools, £5; churches and halls, £1 ss; Hikutaia Bowling Club, £4; slaughterhouses, £2 10s; saleynrds, £lO.
