NEW ZEALANDER'S SUCCESS,; WINS CAZNA CUP CONTEST. [FEOJI OT7B • OWN CORRESPONDENT.] LONDON. May 8. - Anzac spelt backwards is Cazna. Hence - the name of the golf competition which is played on Anzac Sunday each year at the Laleharn golf linkSj Chertsey. Competitors are Australian and New Zealand visitors, and the members of the Laleham' Club. This year the match was won by a New Zealattder, Mr. F. J. Abbott, who had a handicap of eight. A cup was originally, presented by Colonel Stanhope, Mr. T. B. Ching (Christchurchj, a member ofthe club, Dr. J. H, Crowley (Bendigo), Mr. K. Witheriugton (Adelaide) and Mr. Stanley Bolloc (Sydney). This is the third year the: match has been contested, 1 and it is the first time the cup has been won by a ■ Dominion visitor. The cup remains in the clubhouse, but the winner is presented with a replica. The New Zealanders and Australians in the match receive two strokes in addition to their club handicaps. It is a match against bogey over 35 holes. . The other New Zealanders were Mr.; F. Tv Sandford and Mr. W. S. Ferguson (both of the High Commissioner's staff). The Australians were Mr. S. Hill (brother of the cricketer, Mr. Ted Hill), who was on the scratch mark; Mr. Peter Samuel, Mr* J. S. Scott, Mr. E. G. Walter, Mr. T. N« Partridge, Mr. W. McCarthy, and Mr* R. B. Rees. There were 50 ' in all. Abbott was eight down in the morning and three up in the afternoon, tying with li. B. Rees (Australia) and F. Crowley, (Laleham Club). The-three played again over six holes and Abbott won. A member of the club was fourth in the contest with six down, and Sandford was fifth,with seven down. Abbott is a Aiembci; of the Addington Golf Qub.
