GRAMOPHONE STOLEN.
DISAPPEARS FROM SHOP.
MAN REMANDED FOR SENTENCE
The theft of a portable gramophone, valued at £9, was admitted by John Quigley, aged 25, a labourer, in the Police Court on Saturday before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.
Chief-Detective Hammond said the gramophone ha,d been taken from a Queen Street shop on Friday. Detectives Snedden and Moore later found it in accused's room at a boarding house. The police knew nothing about him.
" It was merely a stupid theft," said Mr. Aekins, who represented accused. He said accused had been in town only a few months, and was expecting some monev shortly.
Accused was remandtd for one week for sentence, pending a report from the probation officer.
