WATCH THEIR TONSILS.
A great deal of ill-health is caused by enlarged tonsils and adenoids. ' We should suspect, writes a doctor, thoir existence when a child snores;.at night, or when he • is 1 inclined to -be slightly d,eaf. ■ . The> results of enlarged tonsns and adonoids arc far reaching. They us with frequent c6lds and with a serious middle ear disease which causes pain arid a discharging ear. This sometimes leads to meningitis or permanent deafness. The prevention of enlarged tonsils , and adenoids depends on good habit.3 of, mastication. Wo must follow a diet rich in vitamin"D, the anti-rachitic vitamin. It builds strong bones and sound • teeth. Vitamin D" is present in milk, buttor, eggs, cod-liver oil, and < cheese, lho antiinfective vitamin A is found in tlicso foods, and also in green vegetables, tomatoes and carrots. It helps to prevent colds and influenza. These infections, together with whooping cough, are often tho sourco of tonsil and adenoid trouble.
